VSP and Carl Zeiss Vision Expand Reveal Progressive Lens to 16 States

Reveal provides up to 25 percent more reading and mid-range vision than leading progressive lenses
Rancho Cordova, Calif., March 11, 2009 – VSP® today announced that their first co-branded product, the Reveal™ progressive lens with optics by Carl Zeiss, is expanding its availability to 16 states, including: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Washington, in addition to California, where it was launched in July of 2008.
Reveal progressive lenses provide smooth, continuous vision at near, middle, and distant focal ranges, with no lines or image jumps. The lens design employs Vision Expansion Technology™ that carefully balances the optical characteristics that are most critical to visual performance and patient satisfaction.  Reveal is available in two versions: standard semi-finished, and Reveal Freeform.  Reveal Freeform is fully customized for the wearer’s exact prescription, featuring a variable corridor that adjusts the design for the patient’s frame, and offers up to 40 percent larger fields of view compared to traditional progressive lenses.
“Our Reveal progressive lens delivers outstanding performance, with standard and customized options to meet every patient and practice need,” said Don Oakley, president of VSP’s ophthalmic operations. “Collaborating with Carl Zeiss Vision to produce Reveal has helped VSP deliver a state-of-the-art, premium product that supports private practices and their patients with more choice in quality eyewear.”
Originally offered only in California to VSP members through their VSP private practice doctor, Reveal is now available through VSP practices to non-VSP members as well.
”The Reveal project is an example of how an innovative partnership can bring more value to practices and patients,” said Fred Howard, Carl Zeiss Vision’s President – Americas.  “Carl Zeiss is the leader in precision optics. We have leveraged 160 years of optical innovation to create VSP Reveal progressive lenses that deliver exceptional patient satisfaction.  We’re confident that independent eye care professionals will see the value in dispensing a lens that has been exclusively designed for their practice.”
