First ‘Meaningful Users’ of OfficeMate/ExamWRITER Receive $18k in Stimulus Money

Doctors are among the first in the eyecare industry to benefit from federal EHR incentive
Rancho Cordova, CA, May 23, 2011 – After attesting to meaningful use of the certified version of OfficeMate®/ExamWRITER® v10 electronic health records (EHR), four eyecare professionals have started to receive their first federal stimulus payments of $18,000 each. The group includes optometrists Dr. Kim Castleberry of Plano, Texas; Dr. Lorie Lippiatt of Salem, Ohio; Ryan Wineinger of Shawnee, Kan.; and ophthalmologist Dr. Jeffrey Willig of Syosset, NY. All were part of a beta-test group helping provide analysis of the certified version of OfficeMate/ExamWRITER, which is set for release this summer.
“These doctors have proven that achieving meaningful use is possible and the government stimulus funds are both real and attainable,” said Dr. James Kirchner, Eyefinity’s Chief Professional Officer. “I congratulate them all on this tremendous accomplishment and urge all eyecare professionals to take advantage of this opportunity to become meaningful EHR users.”
“Simply offering a certified product is not enough. We are committed to serving as a partner to our users and successfully guiding them down the path of achieving meaningful use with OfficeMate/ExamWRITER,” said Eyefinity President Steve Baker. “From our product’s built-in meaningful use reporting tool, to a robust offering of education and training, we offer practical tools and strategies that allow providers to take full advantage of the available stimulus money.”
