Jim McGrann
Business innovations keeping independent optometry competitive will be key focus
Rancho Cordova, Calif., (November 30, 2011) – Today, VSP GlobalSM announced Jim McGrann has been named president of VSP Vision Care, effective January 1, 2012. Jim succeeds current president Gary Brooks, who is retiring after 33 years with the company.
McGrann most recently served as VSP Global Chief Technology Officer (CTO), a role he will continue in the interim, and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Eyefinity®. He joined VSP Global in 2008 from Marchon®, where he had been Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer.
“On behalf of everyone at VSP, I thank Gary for the role he played in elevating the strong position private practice doctors hold in communities across the country,” said VSP Global CEO Rob Lynch. “Although Gary’s leadership and understanding of the vision care industry will be missed, Jim has proven to be an exceptional leader. His laser-sharp focus will ensure that VSP continues to win contracts, connect patients to private practice, and support the growth of private practice in this shifting landscape. I’m pleased to welcome him as president of VSP Vision Care.”
Born and raised in Long Island, New York, Jim has a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from the Columbia School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Before entering the optical industry with Marchon Eyewear, Inc. in 1999, he spent 15 years as a consultant and partner for Andersen Consulting, IBM Global Services, and Ernst & Young.
“The industry is changing, and we need to find ways we can evolve the way eyecare is delivered,” said Jim McGrann. “Technology is essentially changing the way consumers act in every aspect of their life, and eyecare is not an exception. In my new role, my focus will be simple: continue to innovate the business, deliver more value to our clients, make it easier for VSP members to care for their eyes and connect with their doctor and elevate the role of private practice optometry.”
