'VSP Global Spark' Transforms Ohio Private Practice in Second Makeover Series

Rancho Cordova, Calif., November 9, 2010 – VSP GlobalSM today unveiled its second series of ‘VSP Global Spark,’ an optometric practice makeover program designed to help private practice eyecare professionals strengthen and grow their business. The makeover process is chronicled through an entertaining and engaging webisode series that showcases a variety of strategies and tips that can help boost the performance of eyecare practices.
VSP Global Spark traveled to Columbus, Ohio for its second makeover mission, at the practice of VSP provider Dr. Steven Curtis of Riverview Eye Associates. Eyefinity®
/OfficeMate® President Steve Baker, host of the first VSP Global Spark makeover, enlisted VSP Director of Corporate Services, Steve Hibbs, to host the second practice makeover, which was completed over an extended weekend. The first webisode is now available at www.vspglobal.com/spark, and new webisodes will be released every few weeks.
“At its core, VSP Global Spark is about showing private practices that a few small changes can make positive impacts on their business,” said Hibbs. “Our webisode series offers eyecare professionals a fun and fast way to update their practice, improving both their bottom line and patient experience.”
Riverview Eye Associates’ ‘Spark’ makeover included many VSP Global products and services, including an upgrade in their practice management software system that helped maximize the use of electronic medical records. The software upgrade by Eyefinity/OfficeMate is helping the practice go paperless, thus increasing overall productivity, enhancing the patient experience and helping position them to apply for up to $44,000 available through the HITECH Act (Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act). Eyecare providers who are ‘meaningul users’ of certified electronic health records, as defined by the federal government, are eligible to apply for the stimulus money which becomes available in 2011.
The practice’s dispensary received a refreshed paint scheme and an update to its display panels and lighting providing by Eye Designs®. The practice’s patients will also have access to new and exciting eyewear choices added during the makeover, including the brand new 2010 bebe collection, provided by Altair®, and Nike optical and sunwear, provided by Marchon® Eyewear. The practice staff also participated in trainings on strategies to increase the sales of progressive lenses and anti-reflective (AR) coatings by VSP Optics Group.
