VSP Global Names 2012 Chairman of the Board

Rancho Cordova, CA, April 17, 2012 – VSP Global®, the industry leader in the delivery of eyecare and eyewear through innovative business solutions and quality vision products, today announced the VSP Global Board of Directors elected Stuart J. Thomas, O.D. as Chairman of the Board for a term of two years.
A practicing optometrist in Athens, GA for 28 years, Dr. Thomas has served on the Board of Directors since 2005 and as Vice Chairman since 2010. 
“Stuart is primed to lead the VSP Global Board of Directors through this pivotal era for independent optometry,” said Tim Jankowski O.D., FAAO Immediate Past Chair. “As marketplace and legislative pressures threaten to impact patient access, Stuart will help ensure the companies within VSP Global remain committed to the growth and sustainability of private practice.”

Dr. Thomas has been providing eye care since 1984 in Athens, GA. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Georgia in 1979 before going on to earn his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern College of Optometry in 1984. He is a long-standing member of the American Optometric Association and the Georgia Optometric Association, and has served in various leadership positions, including President of the Georgia Optometric Association and SECO International. Dr. Thomas also serves as the team optometrist for the University of Georgia Athletic Association.
