Additional prescription sunwear to become available for order through eBuy in the coming months
Rancho Cordova, Calif., January 20, 2010—Eyefinity®/OfficeMate® announced today that Maui Jim® plano and prescription sunwear is available to order through a new prescription sunwear ordering feature on Eyefinity’s eBuy. Initially only available for Maui Jim, additional frame partners are expected to be added for prescription sunwear later this year.
“We are thrilled to welcome Maui Jim as our newest frame partner and to kick-off our prescription sunwear ordering capability with their world-class products,” said Eyefinity/OfficeMate Chief Technology Officer Steve Baker. “Providing eyecare professionals with a way to easily order Maui Jim’s premium polarized sunglasses for their patients will help practices to succeed in today’s competitive marketplace.”
“Maui Jim is pleased to be included as an Eyefinity eBuy sunwear vendor,” said Chris Abbruzzese, Vice President of Marketing for Maui Jim. “This will help eliminate ordering errors and give our customers the ability to accurately and securely transmit their orders directly into production.”
The prescription sunwear ordering feature on eBuy employs prescription validation technology that saves practices time and increases patient satisfaction by instantly verifying that the patient’s prescription will fit their frame and lens choice. Users can choose sunwear from a full color catalog of Maui Jim products and send their frame selection and prescription in one integrated online order to the manufacturer’s proprietary lab.

About Maui Jim Sunglasses
Maui Jim began as a small company selling sunglasses on Maui, Hawaii, back in the early 1980s. Today, Maui Jim is the fastest-growing polarized sunglass maker in the world. As local demand grew for sunglasses that provided advanced protection from the severe glare and UV rays of the Hawaiian sun – without distorting the beautiful colors of the Islands, the company developed proprietary technology – PolarizedPlus, which was later patented.
Maui Jim was “born” with an original line of seven sunglass styles. At first, the sunglasses were exclusively sold in Maui, Hawaii. In 1991, the company was purchased by Hester Enterprises, and in 1994, Hester enlisted RLI Vision Corporation of Peoria, Illinois, to be the mainland distributor of Maui Jim Sunglasses for the ophthalmic market. Maui Jim, Inc. was established in December 1996, when Maui Jim Sunglasses acquired RLI Vision. This provided the financial resources and infrastructure to accommodate the phenomenal sales growth of Maui Jim Sunglasses. Today, the company sells more than 50 styles and 100 SKUs
