B2I: Business to Individual
October 01, 2015
VSP is about putting our more than 75 million members around the globe first. They are the core of our business. Doing that means always refining our omni-channel strategy – finding more access points for our members to receive top-quality eye care and eyewear. That’s going to result in more patients in our provider offices, customers purchasing frames, people visiting our clinics. Focusing on the individual will residually impact all of the areas VSP supports.

This is all about VSP making more money and they couch this in the terms of doing something good for their members. Anybody with VSP now is within minutes away from a panel provider. By increasing the VSP 'stores', VSP is diluting further the numbers that go to private practices. In one aspect, it will make our decision to stop being a VSP provider easier to make and ultimately, VSP will hopefully have fewer providers on panel which is not good for their members, as they have stated they are concerned about. Hopefully, they will see the folly. VSP is no longer optometry driven for optometry. They are becoming a Davis vision and are further eroding the ability of professional optometry to survive and prosper.

I have recently published an article on linked in about the way we are to think of our customers. Customer experience is about individuals who experience a Human Relationship at the exact moment we decide to offer something to them. It is very pretentious because we are allowed to be part of someone's human experience out there which will ultimately "touch and mark" his or her private life. It should be considered an honor and as such we should get pride in it.
